Fees | Dr. Katherine Barteck

Fees and Practice Structure

The fee reflects the structure of the work: longer sessions, direct continuity with me, and a limited caseload.

This isn't the right model for everyone. For people looking for depth-oriented work with privacy, continuity, and enough time for the session to actually unfold, the structure matters.

Session Fees

Individual sessions are $335. Couples and family sessions are $410.

Sessions run 75 to 90 minutes. That length is part of the practice structure, not an add-on. It gives each session enough room to develop without compressing everything into a standard 50-minute frame.

Payment

Payment is due at the time of service. Major credit cards are accepted.

Out-of-Network Benefits

I'm out-of-network and don't bill insurance directly.

Depending on your plan, you may be eligible for partial reimbursement through out-of-network mental health benefits. I can file claims electronically on your behalf with most insurance companies, and a superbill is available on request.

If you plan to use out-of-network benefits, it's worth contacting your insurance company directly before beginning so you understand what your plan covers.

Privacy and Insurance

Using insurance benefits usually requires a diagnosis code and creates a record with your insurance company. For some people, that tradeoff is acceptable. For others, privacy is one reason they choose to pay directly.

There's no single right answer here. The important thing is knowing what information is shared before you decide how you want to use your benefits.

Cancellation

Cancellations made more than 24 hours before a scheduled session are not charged. Cancellations within 24 hours may be charged half the session fee.

Consultation

The initial consultation is free. It's a 15-minute conversation with no commitment. You can ask what you need to ask, and I can get a sense of what's bringing you in. From there, we can decide whether it makes sense to go further.

Good Faith Estimate

Before services begin, you will receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected costs. Under the No Surprises Act, you can request one at any time.

The Next Step

If the structure makes sense and you'd like to ask about fit, the next step is a consultation.
